Explanation of Responses:
1. Phantom shares credited to an unfunded Supplemental Matching Contribution Account ("SMCA") for the reporting person pursuant to the NextEra Energy, Inc. Supplemental Executive Retirement Plan ("SERP"). The value of the SMCA is payable in cash following the reporting person's termination of employment with the Issuer and its subsidiaries.
2. Option to buy 4,760 shares became exercisable in three substantially equal annual installments beginning on February 15, 2020.
3. Option to buy 3,520 shares became exercisable in three substantially equal annual installments beginning on February 15, 2021.
4. Option to buy 2,661 shares became exercisable in three substantially equal annual installments beginning on February 15, 2022.
5. Option to buy 3,030 shares become exercisable in three substantially equal annual installments beginning on February 15, 2023.
6. Option to buy 2,145 shares become exercisable in three substantially equal annual installments beginning on November 15, 2023.
