Income Tax Disclosure [Abstract]
Income Taxes Income Taxes
The Company is subject to income taxes in U.S. federal, state, and foreign jurisdictions. For the three months ended March 31, 2023 and 2022, the Company recorded provisions for income taxes of $797 and $140, respectively. The Company’s effective tax rate for the three months ended March 31, 2023 differs from the U.S. statutory rate due primarily to the impact of earnings in foreign jurisdictions and the impact of requirement to capitalize and amortize certain research and development costs which results in a current U.S. tax provision but no deferred tax benefit as a result of the valuation allowance maintained against our net deferred tax assets. The Company’s effective tax rate for the three months ended March 31, 2022 differs from the U.S. statutory rate primarily due to the jurisdictional mix of earnings and the valuation allowance maintained against its net deferred tax assets.
The Company recognizes deferred tax assets and liabilities for the expected future tax consequences of temporary differences between the financial reporting and tax bases of assets and liabilities. These differences are measured using the enacted statutory tax rates that are expected to be in effect for the years in which differences are expected to reverse. On a periodic basis, the Company reassesses any valuation allowances it maintains on its deferred tax assets, weighing positive and negative evidence to assess the recoverability of the deferred tax assets. The Company maintains a valuation allowance on its net deferred tax assets.
