Activity in the product warranty accrual is included in accrued expenses above and consists of the following (in thousands):

Warranty expense was $0.1 million and $30,000 for the three months ended September 30, 2019 and 2018, respectively,and $0.9 million and $0.1 million for the nine months ended September 30, 2019 and 2018, respectively. The three and nine month periods ended September 30, 2019 include $26,000 and $0.2 million, respectively, relating to the recall of catheters. Warranty expense is included in cost of revenue in the accompanying condensed statements of operations.
