13. Income Taxes
Our provision for income taxes for interim periods is determined using an estimate of our annual effective tax rate, adjusted for discrete items, if any, that arise during the period. Each quarter, we update the estimate of the annual effective tax rate, and if the estimated annual effective tax rate changes, we make a cumulative adjustment in such period. For the three and six months ended June 30, 2025 and 2024, income tax expense (benefit) was immaterial. We continue to maintain a full valuation allowance on our remaining federal and state deferred tax assets.
On July 4, 2025, the One Big Beautiful Bill Act (“OBBBA”) was signed into law. The OBBBA includes changes to U.S. federal income tax law that will be applicable to us beginning in the period of enactment, including provisions allowing accelerated tax deductions for domestic research and development expenditures. We are currently analyzing the impact that the OBBBA will have on our consolidated financial statements.
