ANNOUNCES AGM DATE & FILING OF PROXY MATERIALS



CALGARY, Alberta, April 24, 2006 -- Canada Southern Petroleum Ltd. (the “Company”) (NASDAQ:CSPLF) (TSX:CSW) today reported that its Annual General and Special Meeting of the Shareholders (the “AGM”) will be held on June 8, 2006, in Room Glen 206 at the Calgary TELUS Convention Center, 120 - 9th Avenue SE, Calgary, Canada, at 11:00 am MDT.


The Company expects that mailing of its AGM proxy materials and annual report to shareholders will commence on or about May 12, 2006.
