Employee Benefit Plans

The Company sponsors three noncontributory defined benefit pension plans for certain non-U.S. employees and retirees. One plan covers certain employees in the United Kingdom and the other two plans cover certain employees in Germany. The service cost was $0.1 million for the three months ended September 30, 2018, and $0.1 million and $0.3 million for the nine months ended September 30, 2019 and 2018, respectively, and is included in cost of sales and selling, general and administrative expenses in the Condensed Consolidated Statements of Operations. The other components of net periodic pension costs totaled $0.1 million and $0.3 million for the three months ended September 30, 2019 and 2018, respectively, and $0.5 million and $0.7 million for the nine months ended September 30, 2019 and 2018, respectively, and are included in other non-operating expenses in the Condensed Consolidated Statements of Operations.
