Nature of Operations

Nature of Operations

Mylan N.V. and its subsidiaries (collectively, the “Company,” “Mylan,” “our” or “we”) are engaged in the global development, licensing, manufacture, marketing and distribution of generic, brand and branded generic pharmaceutical products for resale by others and active pharmaceutical ingredients (“API”) through three reportable segments on a geographic basis, North America, Europe and Rest of World. Our North America segment is primarily made up of our operations in the United States (“U.S.”) and Canada and includes the operations of our previously reported Specialty segment. Our Europe segment is made up our of operations in 35 countries within the region. Our Rest of World segment is primarily made up of our operations in India, Australia, Japan and New Zealand. Also included in our Rest of World segment are our operations in emerging markets, which includes countries in Africa (including South Africa) as well as Brazil and other countries throughout Asia and the Middle East. Our API business is conducted through Mylan Laboratories Limited (“Mylan India”), which is included within our Rest of World segment. Effective October 1, 2016, the Company expanded its reporting segments as identified above; refer to Note 13Segment Information for further information regarding the Company’s change in reporting segments.
