11. Related-Party Transactions

The Company participates in and has an equity method investment in a purchasing alliance that was formed to obtain better pricing, to expand product options, to reduce internal costs, and to achieve greater inventory turnover. The Company’s investment in the purchasing alliance was $4.4 million as of March 30, 2019 and $4.3 million as of June 30, 2018. For the three-month periods ended March 30, 2019 and March 31, 2018, the Company recorded purchases of $224.8 million and $202.7 million, respectively, through the purchasing alliance. During the nine-month periods ended March 30, 2019 and March 31, 2018, the Company recorded purchases of $657.9 million and $593.0 million, respectively, through the purchasing alliance.
