4. Intangible Assets and Goodwill

As of September 30, 2019 and December 31, 2018, the Company had $18.8 million and $0.5 million of intangible assets, respectively. Amortization expense related to intangible assets was $0.1 million and $0.2 million for the three months ended September 30, 2019 and 2018, respectively, and $0.4 million and $0.8 million for the nine months ended September 30, 2019 and September 30, 2018, respectively.

Goodwill was $0.4 million and $2.1 million as of September 30, 2019 and December 31, 2018, respectively.
