Stock-Based Compensation Expense

The following table sets forth stock-based compensation expense recognized for the three and nine months endedSeptember 30, 2013 and 2012. Of the 2013 amount, $2 million was included as part of merger transaction costs. These costs were recorded as part of general and administrative expense on the Company's consolidated statements of comprehensive income (loss).
