Amortizable other intangible assets consist of franchise rights and leasehold interests. These intangible assets are amortized on a straight-line basis over the lesser of their economic lives or the remaining life of the applicable agreement. Amortization expense on intangible assets was $3.4 million and $2.6 million for the 13 weeks ended March 27, 2012 and March 29, 2011, respectively.

Annual amortization during the next five fiscal years is expected to be as follows: $14.5 million for fiscal 2012; $14.4 million fiscal 2013; and $14.6 million in each of the years for fiscal 2014 through 2016.
