SUNCOKE ENERGY, INC. EXPECTS DOMESTIC COKE PRODUCTION OF

1,059 THOUSAND TONS IN SECOND QUARTER 2014

Lisle, IL (July 7, 2014) – SunCoke Energy, Inc. (NYSE: SXC) today reported second quarter 2014 domestic coke production is expected to be 1,059 thousand tons, up 115 thousand tons from first quarter 2014, which was impacted by the severe winter weather. On a year-over-year basis, production was down an estimated 22 thousand tons in second quarter 2014 versus second quarter 2013 due to lower production at our Haverhill and Indiana Harbor cokemaking facilities. Lower coal-to-coke yields at Haverhill and reduced production at Indiana Harbor contributed to estimated production declines of 19 and 12 thousand tons, respectively. This decrease was offset in part by higher production at our Granite City and Jewell Coke operations.

Domestic capacity utilization in second quarter 2014 is estimated to be 100 percent, as compared to 102 percent in the same prior year period.
