Note 4 – Investments in Real Estate

As of September 30, 2020, the Company held investments in thirty-five consolidated operating properties and twenty-two development properties through preferred equity, mezzanine loan or ground lease investments. Intangibles related to the Company’s consolidated investments in real estate consist of the value of in-place leases. Amortization expense related to the in-place leases was $1.0 million and $1.9 million, and $5.8 million and $3.8 million for the three and nine months ended September 30, 2020 and 2019, respectively.
