Apple Hospitality REIT, Inc. (which is referred to below as the “Company”) is filing this report in accordance with Item 5.02 of Form 8-K.

Item 5.02. Departure of Directors or Certain Officers; Election of Directors; Appointment of Certain Officers; Compensatory Arrangements of Certain Officers.

On August 24, 2022, Daryl Nickel notified the Company of his retirement from the Board of Directors of the Company. Mr. Nickel's retirement, effective August 24, 2022, comes after seven years of distinguished service to the Company's Board of Directors and is not due to any disagreement with the Company on any matter relating to the Company’s operations, policies or practices.
