19. Related Party Transactions

Since October 2017, the Company has engaged McCarter English LLP (“McCarter”) to provide legal services to the Company, including with respect to intellectual property matters.  Mr. Jonathan M. Sparks, Ph.D., a partner at McCarter & English, has also served in the capacity as the Company’s in-house counsel since October 2017. The Company incurred fees for legal services rendered by McCarter of $1,119, $1,019 and $42 for the years ended December 31, 2019, 2018 and 2017, respectively.  As of December 31, 2019 and 2018, there was $107 and $526 recorded in accounts payable for McCarter. As of December 31, 2019, there was $242 recorded in accrued expenses for McCarter
