6. Marketable Securities

The Company’s investments in marketable securities are stated at fair value and are available for sale. During the year ended December 31, 2023, all remaining investments in marketable securities matured with no realized gain or loss. The cost of securities sold is based upon the specific identification method. Interest income from marketable securities totaled $0.8 million and $4.3 million for the years ended December 31, 2023, and 2022, respectively, and is included in “Interest and investment income” in the Consolidated Statements of Operations.
