SETS NEW SINGLE-DAY VOLUME RECORD AT CBOE;

CBOE’s Total Exchange Volume Ranks As Second Busiest Day All-Time

CHICAGO, March 14, 2007 — The Chicago Board Options Exchange (CBOE) announced today that volume in options on the S&P 500 Index (SPX) on Wednesday, March 14, was a reported 1,832,917 contracts traded, a new all-time record at CBOE.  Today’s record volume eclipsed the previous high of 1,287,151 contracts traded on May 19, 2006.

Total exchange volume at CBOE today was a reported 6,460,053 contracts, the second busiest day in CBOE history, trailing only the 6,722,060 contracts traded on Tuesday, February 27, 2007.

Additionally, last week, March 5 through 9, was the busiest on record for SPX trading at CBOE as 4.35 million contracts were traded, besting the previous weekly record of 4.03 million SPX contracts traded during the week of May 15-19, 2006.  During 2006, SPX was CBOE’s most-actively traded product with volume totaling a record 104.3 million contracts.  SPX average daily volume of 415,588 contracts on the year was an increase of 46% over the previous year.  During February 2007, SPX average daily volume at CBOE was 529,671 contracts, up 50% from February 2006.
