During the six months ended June 30, 2016, the ARLP Partnership recorded adjustments of $18.9 million to reduce the carrying value of its coal inventories to market price as a result of lower coal sale prices and higher cost per ton primarily due to lower production at the Hamilton County Coal, LLC (“Hamilton”) mining complex as a result of challenging market conditions.
