Inventories consist of the following at December 31:

Logs, lumber, plywood and veneer inventories valued on the LIFO basis represented approximately 69% and 77% of total inventory at December 31, 2023 and 2022, respectively. If the LIFO inventory method had not been used, inventory balances would be higher by $18.7 million and $19.8 million at December 31, 2023 and 2022, respectively.
