Capitalized interest on construction projects was $1 million and $3 million for the three and nine months ended September 30, 2020, respectively, and $2 million and $12 million for the three and nine months ended September 30, 2019, respectively.

Depreciation expense was $90 million and $98 million for the three months ended September 30, 2020 and 2019, respectively, and $279 million and $298 million for the nine months ended September 30, 2020 and 2019, respectively.
