At March 31, 2022, total remaining stock-based compensation expense for unvested stock option awards was $3.3 million, which is expected to be recognized over a weighted-average period of 2.6 years. For the three months ended March 31, 2022 and 2021, the Company recorded stock-based compensation expense for stock option awards of $0.4 million and $1.6 million, respectively.

At March 31, 2022, total remaining stock-based compensation expense for non-vested restricted stock units was $45.9 million, which is expected to be recognized over a weighted-average period of 3.1 years. For the three months ended March 31, 2022 and 2021, the Company recorded $3.1 million and $4.8 million in stock-based compensation expense for restricted stock units, respectively.
