Zumiez Inc. Reports December 2018 Sales Results

December 2018 Comparable Sales Increased 4.9%

Company Raises Fourth Quarter Outlook

LYNNWOOD, Wash., Jan. 09, 2019 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Zumiez Inc. (NASDAQ: ZUMZ) a leading specialty retailer of apparel, footwear, equipment and accessories for young men and women, today announced, that total net sales for the five-week period ended January 5, 2019 increased 2.9% to $164.6 million, compared to $160.0 million for the five-week period ended December 30, 2017.  The Company's comparable sales increased 4.9% for the five-week period ended January 5, 2019 compared to a comparable sales increase of 7.9% for the five-week period ended December 30, 2017.

Based primarily on stronger than expected quarter-to-date sales, the Company is increasing guidance and now expects fiscal 2018 fourth quarter comparable sales growth of approximately 3%, and earnings per share between $1.08 and $1.10.  This compares to the previous guidance for comparable sales growth between 0% and 2%, and earnings per share between $1.02 and $1.08.
