19.Related Party Transactions

The Chief Executive Officer of the Company joined the Board of Directors of Altasciences Company Inc. (Altasciences) in April 2021. In May 2021, Altasciences acquired Calvert Laboratories, Inc. (Calvert Labs), an entity with which the Company conducts business. The Company recorded $1.7 million of research and development expense in the accompanying consolidated statements of comprehensive loss related to preclinical and analytical services provided by Altasciences for the year ended December 31, 2022, and $1.6 million for the period from May 2021 through December 31, 2021. Additionally, the Company recorded amounts payable of $201,000 and $685,000, and prepaid expenses of $752,000 and $88,000 in the accompanying consolidated balance sheets related to services provided by Altasciences, as of December 31, 2022 and 2021, respectively.
