The FIFO values of inventories valued on the LIFO method were $103.3 million and $109.1 million as of September 30, 2019 and December 31, 2018, respectively. For the three and nine months ended September 30, 2019, income from continuing operations before income taxes was reduced by less than $0.1 million due to a decrease in certain LIFO inventory quantities.

For the nine months ended September 30, 2019, the Company recorded a $4.9 million decrease in the employee benefit obligations related to a pension remeasurement in conjunction with the redistribution of active and inactive participants between separate pension plans and a $0.1 million settlement loss related to the SERP.

For the nine months ended September 30, 2019 and 2018, the Company reclassified $4.4 million and $4.5 million, respectively, of costs from AOCI to "Other expense - net" on the Condensed Consolidated Statements of Operations. For each of the nine months ended September 30, 2019 and 2018, the Company recognized an income tax benefit of $1.1 million related to such reclassifications classified as "Provision for income taxes" on the Condensed Consolidated Statements of Operations.
