8. Segment Information

The Company operates in one reportable segment and is engaged in the development, manufacture and supply of critical subsystems for the semiconductor capital equipment, industrial, flat panel, medical, energy and research industries. Multiple operating segments were aggregated into one reportable segment as the nature of the Company’s products and production processes, as well as type of customers and distribution methods, is consistent among all the Company’s products. The Company’s foreign operations are conducted in its wholly-owned subsidiaries in China and Singapore. The Company’s principal markets include North America, Asia and, to a lesser degree, Europe. Sales by geographic area represent sales to unaffiliated customers.

All information on sales by geographic area is based upon the location to which the products were shipped. The following table sets forth revenue by geographic area (in thousands):

At March 28, 2014 and March 29, 2013, approximately $3.7 million of the Company’s net long-lived assets were located in Asia, and the remaining balances were located in the United States.
