Note 1. Description of Business

HTG Molecular Diagnostics, Inc. (the “Company”) is a commercial stage company that developed and markets a novel technology platform to facilitate the routine use of complex molecular profiling. The Company’s HTG Edge platform, consisting of instrumentation (including HTG Edge and HTG EdgeSeq systems), consumables and software analytics, is used in sample profiling applications including tumor profiling, molecular diagnostic testing and biomarker development. The Company’s HTG Edge platform automates the molecular profiling of genes and gene activity using its proprietary nuclease protection chemistry on a wide variety of biological samples. The Company derives revenue from the sale of instruments, consumables and related services.

The Company operates in one segment and its customers are primarily located in the United States. For the three and six months ended June 30, 2015, approximately 2% and 3%, respectively, of the Company’s revenue was generated from sales to customers located outside of the United States, compared to 13% and 27%, respectively, for the three and six months ended June 30, 2014.
