Description of Business	Description of Business Aéropostale, Inc. and its subsidiaries (“we”, “us”, “our”, the “Company” or “Aéropostale”) is a primarily mall-based, specialty retailer of casual apparel and accessories, principally targeting 14 to 17 year-old young women and men through its Aéropostale stores and 4 to 12 year-old kids through its P.S. from Aéropostale stores. We provide customers with a focused selection of high quality fashion and fashion basics at compelling values in an innovative and exciting store environment. Aéropostale maintains control over its proprietary brands by designing, sourcing, marketing and selling all of its own merchandise. Aéropostale products can be purchased in Aéropostale stores and online at www.aeropostale.com (this and any other references in this Quarterly Report on Form 10-Q to www.aeropostale.com or www.ps4u.com are solely references to a uniform resource locator, or URL, and are inactive textual references only, not intended to incorporate the websites into this Quarterly Report on Form 10-Q). P.S. from Aéropostale products can be purchased in P.S. from Aéropostale stores, certain Aéropostale stores and online at www.ps4u.com. As of August 2, 2014, we operated 924 Aéropostale stores, consisting of 848 stores in all 50 states and Puerto Rico, 76 stores in Canada, as well as 148 P.S. from Aéropostale stores in 31 states and Puerto Rico. Since November 2012, our Company acquired and now operates GoJane.com, Inc. (“GoJane”), an online women's fashion footwear and apparel retailer. In addition, pursuant to various licensing agreements, our licensees operated 161 Aéropostale locations and one Aéropostale and P.S. from Aéropostale combination location in the Middle East, Asia, Europe and Latin America as of August 2, 2014. We recently signed licensing agreements in Chile and we expect that this licensee will open approximately 10 Aéropostale stores and approximately 20 P.S. from Aéropostale locations. Additionally, we recently signed a licensing agreement in Mexico that will allow our licensee to operate P.S. from Aéropostale locations.
