AEROPOSTALE REPORTS FEBRUARY SALES RESULTS
New York, New York — March 1, 2006 - Aeropostale, Inc. (NYSE: ARO), a mall-based specialty retailer of casual and active apparel for young women and men, today announced that total net sales for the four-week period ended February 25, 2006 increased 14.1% to $67.8 million, compared to $59.4 million for the four-week period ended February 26, 2005. The company’s comparable store sales decreased 5.4% for the month, versus a comparable store sales increase of 13.4% in the year ago period.
Julian R. Geiger, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer said, “During the month, consistent with our merchandise strategy, we were able to increase our average unit retail and gross margins despite weaker than expected traffic. We continue to be pleased with the direction of our merchandise assortment and we believe we are well positioned to capitalize on our opportunities during the remainder of the spring selling season.”
