Stock options and restricted stock units to purchase common stock are not included in the computation of diluted earnings per share if their effect would be anti-dilutive. The Company excluded 1.5 million and 1.0 million anti-dilutive share equivalents in the calculation of diluted earnings per share for the three months ended September 30, 2018 and 2017, respectively; and 1.6 million and 0.8 million anti-dilutive shares for the nine months ended September 30, 2018 and 2017, respectively.
