Derivative Financial Instruments

Note 7. Derivative Financial Instruments

The Company manages some of its foreign currency risk through the purchase of foreign currency forward contracts that hedge against the short-term effect of currency fluctuations. These foreign currency forward contracts have a monthly maturity that mitigates the effect of rate fluctuations on certain local currency denominated intercompany balances, cash, and customer receivables. The Company does not use derivative financial instruments for speculative or trading purposes. These forward contracts are not designated as hedging instruments for accounting purposes. Principal hedged currencies include the Euro, Japanese Yen, Swiss Franc, and U.S. Dollar. There were no outstanding foreign currency forward contracts at the end of December 31, 2018 and June 30, 2018.
