Note 7. Segment Information

 

The Company operates in one business segment, which primarily focuses on the development and global commercialization of genomic-based clinical laboratory services that analyze the underlying biology of cancer, allowing physicians and patients to make individualized treatment decisions. As of June 30, 2012, the majority of the Company’s product revenues have been derived from sales of one product, the Oncotype DX breast cancer test.

 

The following table summarizes total revenues from customers and collaboration partners by geographic region. Product revenues are attributed to countries based on ship-to location. Contract revenues are attributed to countries based on the location of the collaboration partner.

Medicare payments for the three and six months ended June 30, 2012 accounted for approximately 22% and 23%, respectively, of the Company’s product revenues compared to 20% and 21% for the three and six months ended June 30, 2011, respectively. There were no other customers who individually accounted for 10% or more of product revenues.
