Sanofi-aventis refers to media reports that Schweizerhall Holding AG/Cimex AG intends to launch a generic of Plavix® (Clopidogrel) into the German market.

Although sanofi-aventis does not currently have precise information related to these reports, sanofi-aventis points out that Clopidogrel, marketed in Germany as Plavix® by sanofi-aventis and Iscover® by Bristol-Myers Squibb, currently still benefits from EU Regulatory Data Protection.

Sanofi-aventis is currently evaluating its legal and regulatory options and will vigorously defend intellectual property rights, including patent protection, in Germany.
