Platinum Group Metals Appoints Project Finance Advisor

(Vancouver/Johannesburg) Platinum Group Metals Ltd. (PTM-TSX; PLG-NYSE:AMEX) ("Platinum Group" or the "Company") announces the appointment of Mr. AJ Ali as the Company’s Project Finance Advisor.  Mr. Ali will advise the company and assist in structuring the overall project finance package, including bank debt, for the construction of the Western Bushveld Joint Venture (WBJV) Project 1 Platinum Mine in South Africa.

Mr. Ali is currently the Chief Financial Officer of Avanti Mining Inc. He is a Canadian Chartered Accountant with over 25 years experience in the mining industry and has been involved with over $2B (USD) in project financings for global mining projects to date. Most recently, he was the Chief Financial Officer and a Director of Centenario Copper Corporation before its acquisition by Quadra FNX Mining and Chief Financial Officer of EuroZinc Mining Corporation (2004 to 2006) before it merged with Lundin Mining.  Mr. Ali was the Chief Operating Officer and Chief Financial Officer of Resource 21 (1998 to 2003), a subsidiary of the Boeing Company, formed to produce satellite-based imaging data and information services.  Mr. Ali was the Vice-President, Finance and Chief Financial Officer of Vista Gold Corp. (1992 to 1998). Prior to the merger of Peak Gold, Metallica Resources and New Gold Inc., Mr. Ali served as the Director and the chair of the Audit Committee of Metallica Resources Inc. Mr. Ali is also a member of the Financial Executives International and the Institute of C orporate Directors. He is currently a Director of Explorator Resources Inc. and Chair of its Audit Committee.

Platinum Group is currently involved in discussions with multiple international banks in relation to debt financing for the outstanding portion of capital required to complete the Project 1 Platinum Mine.  In November of 2010, the Company completed a $143.8M (CAD) equity financing to begin mine implementation. The Company has purchased all required surface rights and is in process to establish site infrastructure.  An EPCM firm has been appointed to complete detailed designs and, with final detailed permits expected shortly, Platinum Group will start excavations for underground development.

The total capital cost of the mine construction was estimated in the Updated Feasibility Study in October 2009 at US$ 443M for a 275,000 ounce per year mine producing platinum, palladium rhodium and gold. The mine is high grade and near surface accessible by ramps.

News Release No. 11-202 February 10, 2011

Platinum Group Metals Options Canadian Platinum Target

Thunder Bay, Ontario: Benton Resources Corp ("Benton") (BTC.TSX-V) and Platinum Group Metals Ltd. (“PTM”) (PTM.TSX), based in Vancouver B.C and Johannesburg South Africa, have signed a binding agreement (the “Agreement”) which grants PTM the exclusive right to earn up to a 75% interest in Benton’s Bark Lake platinum-palladium project.  The property is comprised of 19 mineral claims totaling 3,884 hectares and located approximately 120 kilometres west of Thunder Bay, Ontario. Under the terms of the Agreement PTM must complete staged option payments and work commitments totaling $145,000 cash, 215,000 shares and $1,625,000 in exploration over a 7 year period.  PTM has the option to earn the final 5% (75% total) by completing a pre-feasibility study.   The Agreement is subject to regulatory approvals.

The Bark Lake property is host to platinum, palladium, copper and nickel showings contained in mineralized ultramafic rock either in outcrop or mineralized boulders.  The mineralized occurrences are situated along the Quetico Fault which is a major crustal-scale east west oriented structure. Recently discovered new styles of PGM mineralization are located proximal to this structure to the east.   

Of particular interest was the discovery of the semi-massive, net-textured sulphide boulders measuring up to one cubic metre in size on the Bark Lake Property.  The boulders are angular, spread over a 200m distance, and believed to be located proximal to source.  Selective grab samples submitted for assay by Benton personnel from the boulders returned grades including 5.84 grams per tonne 3 PGM, 2.65gpt platinum, 1.46gpt palladium, 0.73gpt gold, 1.21% copper, 1.55% nickel.  Benton completed several exploration programs on the property that included grid establishment, aeromagnetics, ground magnetics, ground IP, geological mapping, prospecting, and limited shallow diamond drilling.  Although the source of the mineralized boulders has not been determined the work programs did identify a small ultramafic intrusion to the north where two shallow drill holes intersected anomalous platinum, palladium, and gold. The plati num palladium ratio exceeding 1:1 is also noteworthy in the new deposit model.

Mr Chunnett was formerly the Head of Exploration for Anglo Platinum where he worked for 28 years of the 31 years with Anglo associated companies and supervised a large team on several continents. Platinum Group Metals Eskom Agreement Completed for Delivery of 40MVA Electricity Supply to WBJV Project 1 Platinum Mine

(Vancouver/Johannesburg) Platinum Group Metals Ltd. (PTM-TSX; PLG-NYSE:AMEX) (“Platinum Group” or the “Company”) reports that on February 15, 2011 the operating company for the WBJV formally accepted a budget quotation from South African power utility Eskom for delivery of a 40MVA service to the site of the Project 1 Platinum Mine.  The formal agreement provides for power infrastructure on budget and on time.  An initial supply of 10MVA will be delivered for construction purposes by way of existing infrastructure.  A ramp up to a full 40MVA production level service is scheduled for the last quarter of 2013 after the construction of a new substation and line service.

R. Michael Jones, President of Platinum Group Metals Ltd. said “We are very pleased to confirm our formal arrangement with Eskom. The arrangement is consistent with the feasibility estimate and within the timelines for the Project 1 Platinum Mine. There continues to be excellent interaction with the Eskom team and all of the mine developers in our immediate area to look for synergies and cost savings.”

The quotation from Eskom calls for payments totaling R 109.43 million, net of value added tax, by 2013 (approx. $15.0 million at current exchange rates).  This amount falls below the budgeted cost for electrical power supply included in the Company’s eighteen month $100 million Phase 1 construction budget announced on December 15, 2010.  An additional security deposit against 3 months billed usage and connection fee of R 29.99 million (approx. $4.06 million at current exchange rates) will be payable to Eskom in late 2013.  Eskom reports an 85% to 95% confidence level for these costs.

The Company is also in discussions with the engineering and management teams of neighbouring platinum projects to assess possible synergies.  The Company’s large surface rights position and close proximity to three other mine constructions and one operating mine present logical opportunities for savings on delivery of bulk services such as power and water as well as tailings. Platinum Group Metals has offered to provide surface rights for a regional substation in an area near the center of the three ongoing mine builds.  This substation will benefit both the local mine projects and communities.  Eskom is involved in these discussions as well and if savings can be achieved these will be passed on to all stakeholders.

Investments nearing completion or currently in progress in the area of the Project 1 Platinum Mine by Royal Bafokeng Platinum, Impala Platinum, Wesizwe Platinum and Platinum Group are estimated to exceed $4.0 billion.
