On August 7, 2007, UIL Holdings Corporation (UIL Holdings or the Registrant) issued a press release clarifying UIL Holdings commitment to maintain its present dividend level as previously announced in its earnings release issued on Thursday, August 2, 2007.  A copy of the Registrant's press release is attached hereto as Exhibit 99.1
