Cofins Tax Provision Reversion

Pursuant to the Brazilian Securities and Exchange Commission - CVM Instruction # 358/2002, Companhia Paranaense de Energia – COPEL, announces to the market that, in December 2006, it reversed the provision for the Cofins Tax on electric power operations for the period between September 1998 and June 2001 to the result. This reversion, in the amount of R$ 197.6 million, took place due to the court decision issued by the Superior Court of Justice in favor of the Company.
