Business Of The Company	1. Business of the Company Description of Business. IRIDEX Corporation is a leading worldwide provider of therapeutic based laser systems, delivery devices and consumable instrumentation used to treat sight-threatening eye diseases in ophthalmology. Our ophthalmology products are sold in the United States predominantly through a direct sales force and internationally through approximately 70 independent distributors in over 100 countries. In December 2011, we entered into an agreement to sell our aesthetics business to Cutera, Inc. and reclassified the aesthetics business segment as discontinued operations. The transaction closed Feburary 3, 2012. See Note 17 - Subsequent Event.
