Investor Advisory Committee Welcome Message from Commissioner Aguilar

As an advocate of investors, I am honored to be the Sponsor of the Investor Advisory Committee. The formation of this Committee is a natural extension of the investor protection and investor education efforts undertaken by the SEC for the past 75 years. The Committee is one more tangible signal of the Commission's renewed focus on investors. I am very much looking forward to hearing directly from investors about the issues that are important to them. The Committee’s activities will help inform a broad spectrum of the SEC’s regulatory agenda as well as advance important goals such as increasing financial literacy.

My enthusiasm is shared throughout the SEC, and by the Committee Co-Chairs and other Committee members. I commend Chairman Schapiro for making establishment of this Committee a priority. I am encouraged that the Committee members have answered the call of public service by agreeing to serve on this Committee. Working together we can make great strides to amplify the voices of investors and improve our capital markets.
