Spotlight on Harmonization of Regulation

Note: This page has been archived and is no longer being updated. It may include obsolete or out-of-date information.

The Securities and Exchange Commission and the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) will hold joint meetings to seek input from the public on harmonization of market regulation. President Barack Obama in June called on the two regulators to recommend changes to statutes and regulations that would eliminate differences with respect to similar types of financial instruments. The first meeting, on Sept. 2, 2009, will be held at the CFTC between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. The second meeting, on Sept. 3, 2009, will be held at the SEC between 9:00 a.m. and 12:30 p.m.
