Dear Sir or Madam:
     
        I have written a Note for publication in The Georgia Law Review 
which argues in favor of adopting the proposed amendment to the 
definition of "affiliate" in rule 144.
     
        The amendment was proposed in February 1997, and as far as I 
can tell, has not yet been adopted.  Has the Commission determined a 
date on which it will decide the issue of whether to adopt the 
amendment?
     
        I greatly appreciate any information you can provide regarding 
the status of the proposed amendment, as the Editorial Board is in 
the process of selecting Notes for publication, and my Note will 
obviously be rendered moot if the Commission adopts the proposed 
amendment in the near future.
