Dear SEC,

Please do not exempt brokerage firms from being required to act as fiduciaries to their clients. We live in a finanically illiterate country. Most folks are just trying to take care of their families and day to day business, they do not have the time or energy to learn everything there is to know about financial matters. That is why they seek help from professionals. However, the vast number of professionals that they turn to are just interested in boosting their own income. Please protect the hardworking people of America and require anyone involved in financial planning to act as a fiduciary and hold them accountable to it. You would want your friends and family to be protect from snake oil salesmen, wouldnt you? Please do not allow financial planning, a much needed service, to be tainted by less than fiducial standards.

Thank you,
Kate Fries, CFP
