Date: 1/5/98 3:14 PM Subject: rule S7-25-97 This proposed rule would prevent motions and information on issues including fair employment practices (such as sex and race discrimination and harassment) from being brought to stockholders' attention--even though many stockholders would like to have this information. The rule would also prevent questions on gender balancing boards, the use of child labor, and other ways that employees, investors and customers force corporations to clean up their acts. Many people care what the social practices are of the companies in whom they invest. This proposed rule would change the balance of power between citizens and corporations. I oppose it. Kate Silbaugh.
