Date: 1/5/98 12:42 PM Subject: S7-25-97 Arthur Levitt Securities and Exchange Commission 450 5th Street, NW Washington, DC 20549 Dear Mr. Levitt: I am opposed to rule S7-25-97 (the stockholder gag rule). Stockholders are owners and have a fiduciary responsibility and a need to know what is going on in the companies in which they own stock. This gag rule would be a suspect move to keep stockholders in the dark about the activities of the employees who manage their companies. I would not want to own stock in a company that was able to hide it's activities from me. A company that withholds information does not instill trust. Sincerely, Dana M.
