Subject: File No. S7-25-97 Author: Michael Connolly Date: 11/26/97 10:12 AM I am a small shareholder in a number of corporations. Although I have never filed a shareholder petition, I strongly believe in the need to keep corporations responsive to shareholders and to the public interest. I do NOT support the drastic narrowing of the rights of small shareholders which the new rules promise. The current procedure, requiring a petition to achieve 3% on the first ballot to be reintroduced, and then 6% and 10% in subsequent years is quite sufficient to prevent trivialization and abuse.
