There is a complete disconnect between company performance and pay. Many hardworking middleclass Americans are losing jobs while CEO's and there minions receive pay raises and bonuses (witness Lucent). Is anything being done to curb the rape of shareholders at companies like E Trade and Worldcom where friendly boards forgive loans in the 10's or 100's of $millions? And how about retirement packages of executives at venerable GE. I'm sure that many average Americans would be shocked to find out that up to 50% of inflated salaries can be sheltered from taxation and give GUARANTEED 12% rates of return. Where is the SEC on these issues? ***************************************************************** The information transmitted is intended solely for the individual or entity to which it is addressed and may contain confidential and/or privileged material.
