The NYSE petition should be dismissed.
NYSE market data is needed for effective market supervision in any system. For the dominant Big Board to extort payment for market data is improper.
Further, market data belongs to participants whose cash and securities set prices. Market centers should have no claim on this asset except for a miniscule (falling real cost) of gathering and maintaining market data.
