             SEC Staff to Conduct Media Briefing on
           Alternative Trading Systems Rule Proposals


What: Securities and Exchange Commission staff will conduct a
      media briefing regarding the alternative trading systems
      rule proposals that will be considered by the Commission
      at its open meeting on Thursday, April 16.  Information
      from the briefing will be  embargoed until after the vote
      on Thursday.

When: Wednesday, April 15, 1998; 4:00 p.m.
