FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE 2001-89 Third Annual Municipal Market Roundtable "Secondary Market Disclosure for the 21st Century" Washington, DC, September 10, 2001 - Today the Securities and Exchange Commission's Office of Municipal Securities announced its Third Annual Municipal Market Roundtable, which will be held on Thursday, October 18, 2001, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Northeast Regional Office of the Commission in New York City. The Roundtable will provide a platform for a wide variety of municipal market participants to present their observations and opinions on the successes and problems with the secondary market disclosure system established under Rule 15c2-12 and to suggest possible changes in that system. Martha Mahan Haines, Chief of the Office of Municipal Securities in the Division of Market Regulation said, "The continuing disclosure provisions of Rule 15c2-12 are now seven years old. It is time to take a look at how the Rule has actually worked, particularly in light of the rise of the Internet and other communications technologies since 1994. The Roundtable presents an opportunity to hear from many people involved with municipal securities about how well they believe the Rule is carrying out its intended purpose and to elicit ideas for improvement. I expect this Roundtable to provide useful information for my Office's ongoing review of continuing disclosure in the municipal securities market." The Roundtable is open to the public and free of charge. Seating is available on a first-come, first-served basis. The Commission's Northeast Regional Office is located at 7 World Trade Center in New York City. # # #
