To whom it may concern: The bill HR 4173 was ill conceived and not fully thought out. It represents an extreme hardship on small companies in trying to determine the origin of certain minerals. We do not control that. A better approach would be to ban the import of such materials. Unless the real goal is to destroy American jobs, this was the wrong thing to do.

When you include the possible use of scrap from this country and un-named nearby countries, there is little hope of being certain the origin of these materials.

A knee jerk reaction for sure. Politics as usual.
