As a human, a concerned citizen, and an Engineer-In-Training I think that it's high time that we quit the desecration of Mother Earth (Planet Earth) for valueless gems (yes, I think that the trinkets that we wear on our earlobes, noses, nipples, tongues, etc. have no value) that are part of the problems that we humans face in urban areas and in the countries where they are mined.

We must acknowledge the facts too that deal with the mining practices, locations of the mines, the people that benefit directly from the mining, as well as the damage that we are doing to the air, water, and land at and near the mining areas.

We can no longer sit with our heads in the sand and pretend that we do not know what's going on behind the scenes, nor can we ignore the blood on the diamonds that we flaunt.

Enough is enough and the time is now for positive action
