Do not change the rules under which MREITS currently operate. The mortgage crisis was an unconscionable lapse of judgment on behalf of the regulators,lawmakers and the banking industry. To change the rules regarding REITS and their investments in MBSs shows that the government is more concerned with some misguided search for vengeance rather than actually trying to solve the problem going forward. The time for playing the Blame game is over - move on and stop playing politics.
